My advice to anyone who ask me about makeup is just to focus on the basics. If you are a teenager or a young professional and beginner in makeup, it's better to invest in products that brings out your natural beauty rather than applying every makeup that can make your face look fake.
Knowing what products will work don't mean you have to buy everything and end up wasting your money!

Novuhair Supports Alopecia Areata Awareness in Celebrating Inner Strength

September marks the month-long commemoration of Alopecia Areata awareness worldwide. Alopecia areata is a condition when hair loss occur due to faults in the immune system attacking the hair follicles which results in partial or total loss of hair on the head and other parts of the body.

Leading this year’s celebration in the country is Alopecia Philippines, a group founded by singer and songwriter Abby Asistio in 2012. She has been championing the cause of empowering citizens with this condition.

Like her, I'm also suffering from severe hairloss. We realized it since I was in highschool so I always kept my hair short. They keep on telling me that stress causes it. But until today I still shed hair. It's quite depressing to see lumps of hair everyday. I'm trying natural ways and home remedies but I feel like they're not enough. I fear one day that I would just touch a bald spot on my head.

Abby is no stranger to alopecia, having been diagnosed with alopecia areata since she was four years old. Abby’s decision to come out in public with her condition was a major turning point in her life.

On September 2012, Abby decided to start an online campaign in time with Alopecia Awareness Month by inviting family and friends to pose with the double “A” (inverted “V”) sign using their fingers on the photo sharing site, Instagram. It quickly caught on and Abby was overwhelmed by the response from netizens, with over a thousand photo contributions to date.

This paved the way for the beginnings of Alopecia Philippines. It aims to raise awareness about alopecia and correct common misconceptions and perceptions about it, provide encouragement to people afflicted with it, and create an online support community for them.
What started out as a group of ten is now more than 300 members strong and its Facebook page – Alopecia Areata Awareness, draws followers from all over the world.

I used to not be bothered about hairloss, but until you see that your hair is thinning you'll be scared of waking up the next day with a patch on the head.

It's good to hear that Novuhair has been supporting the cause for Alopecia Philippines through Abby Asistio. Abby have been using the brand continuously since March 2013 and she has only praises to share using the product.

Nature has provided a safe and effective answer to hair loss and scalp disorders. Novuhair is the only topical scalp lotion in the market that has the highest concentration of natural ingredients, FDA-certified and ACD-compliant. It is a homegrown, proudly Philippine-made product that is globally competitive.

Novuhair Topical Scalp Lotion, Shampoo and Conditioner are available in all Mercury Drug Stores and other leading drug stores nationwide.

7 Flavors by Chef Boy Logro World Fusion Buffet-Review

San Juan is probably one of the go-to place for variety of hidden gems. For buffet place, I think going   somewhere slightly secluded yet spacious lets you enjoy your unlimited heaps. Have you ever felt being overwhelmed in a buffet not only with lots food choices but also with people going up their seats and grabbing food from all directions?

In 7 Flavors, you will feel the comfort of buffet dining experience!

This two-storey restaurant is located at 196, Mabini St. Addition Hills, San Juan. The buffet is located in the second floor while downstairs offers ala carte food items. The first floor could also serve as an events place for gatherings. It also has a wide parking space for your cars.

Here's the dining area of the second floor. As you can see, the tables have ample distance to each other and very spacious. Less chance of bumping with someone with a full plate There are also  rooms for groups and families!

The area is also well lighted, and while you're eating you can watch episodes of "Idol sa Kusina" shown on the TV.

The 7 Flavors: Sweet, Sour, Salty, Bitter, Spicy, Umami, Astringent

The food are sure delectable as the owner of this place is no other than "Idol sa Kusina" host and chef, Chef Boy Logro.
My family is a fan of his show and we always gather just to watch him. His humble beginnings when he started as a dishwasher boy then he went up to be the executive chef of a hotel then to royalties, were very inspiring and he's just fun to watch along with Bettina Carlos!

Here's their buffet area. Left side are the appetizers, salads and fresh food.

Salad starters! For some who wants to toss different ingredients and dressing, you can make your own with fresh ingredients!

Of course, it wouldn't be called a world fusion buffet if there are not any foreign dishes.
The difference I can say with other buffet is that they have limited offerings. Which is kinda good for those who know specifically what they want.  Unlimited of something you really, really want.

Like Maki sushi.

Pizza

and probably my favorite (I heard others loved too) the Make-your-own Tacos!!!

I'm not the rice meal type of person, so this stretch of chaffing dish didn't excite me as much. Only few photos I took but they have Filipino dishes like Kare-kare!

Pasta!

Mafu tofu

They also have a carving station featuring roast beef!

See my plate? My faves! Tacos, pasta, maki, pizza and beef!!!
It's full of carbs I know, I just love the umami taste more, especially the tacos!

The meal already made me feel full. But I saved some space for dessert. Haha!

Dessert station!!!
Most of them are pastries but they also have coffee jelly and bilo-bilo for non-baked goods.

Brownies!

Well-baked cookies! This one's my fave since they are chewy and bigger than usual chocolate chip cookies.

Carrot cup cakes

Maja!

Mango royale

And if you still crave for a Filipino dessert, why not try their make-your-own Halo-Halo!
They also have different flavors of ice cream to top them off.
Sugar? Yes please!

For the drinks you can have sodas and fruit juices, or milkshakes like this Campfire milkshake! It's like a drink version of S'mores. Sweet with bits of marshmallows.

I didn't experience umay in 7 Flavors. Probably because I'm more of a quality than quantity so the limited variety is just enough for me. Like I can scan the whole buffet area from a spot, and you already know what food you'll be getting.

The place also welcomes parties, groups and family bondings! With those enclosed rooms, you can fill up your plates and have like a family-style dining.
The place is also well-lighted, taking pictures was a breeze for me. I didn't have to edit much so I can say that the place is instagrammable!

Not Your Usual Smooth and Hair-free Feeling with Whipped!

Oh ever since I got this partnership I told myself I'll never get a leg wax. Even if sugar waxing is probably the safest way of removing hair.
 But I did. Whaa.
It was my FIRST TIME to get those thin little hairs on my legs stripped off.
Can't wait to tell you my experience!!!

HUSH Escape Room by Breakout Philippines - My "DON'T BREATHE" experience

Gone were the days when the characters scream at the sight of a scary figure. In the "Don't Breathe" movie by Columbia Pictures, the wealthy, blind man was about to be robbed by Alex, Rocky and Money. They thought they could escape with his cash but then the old man could hear every step, every move, and every breathe. How can they escape a blind serial killer with heightened sense of hearing? Surely it is a suspense, thriller movie you wouldn't want to miss.

Now what if you were Alex, Rocky and Money?

"You and your friends break into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking you'll get away with the perfect heist. You're wrong.
You have 45 minutes to find the money and escape the clutches of a violent blind man in the room with you and your friends. He knows you're there. He's stretching his hands out to reach you. And if he gets to you, you know you're done for." -from Breakout Philippines Facebook page

WATCH THE TRAILER HERE
Are you ready to do the perfect heist and escape the clutches of the blind old man?

HUSH escape room is a LIVE ACTION ESCAPE ROOM inspired by the movie "Don't Breathe" brought to us by Breakout Philippines and Columbia Pictures Philippines. Probably most of you are familiar with the idea of escape rooms or might be aware of this movie tie-up?

WELL, I WAS NOT.

Last Friday, August 5 marked the FIRST TIME I got try an ESCAPE ROOM. And it would be no other than the HUSH escape room.

Let us list what I knew (and believed) so far before I got in.
-I will be contained in a room with my (blogger) groupmates and we should find clues to decode and open locks, for 45 mins.
- I believe I am smart enough to solve puzzles. LIKE DUH I AM A SHERLOCK FAN and A SELF-CONFESSED PUZZLE LOVER. So I think puzzles will be a breeze.
- I'll just focus on finding the clues in unthinkable places and we'll be able to go out before the time runs out!
-I also thought that these escape room trend is just for those who extremely seek the horror thrill like what people experience in watching horror movies. Since I don't *enjoy* horror movies, I thought I wouldn't FEEL the thrill of escape rooms....

IF IT WILL BE YOUR FIRST TIME, AND YOU'RE THINKING JUST LIKE ME WELL THEN, PREPARE TO LOSE IT.

The Intern (featuring Goods.ph)

It's always a problem to me what bag to carry during a certain event or point in my life like when I was still in school. For someone who leaves home at six in the morning and back at six in the evening five times a week, I don't have much time to rest and prepare for the next day. I make it a point that all my stuff are in that one bag that I will carry throughout the whole semester!
I don't even care if my bag matches my outfit of the day (lol), as long as I got all I need in it.
Functionality is still greater than fashion for me.

Only this semester, I'll be having my internship. My fashion will be limited to business or corporate attire. Since I won't be carry that much aside from my internship essentials like make-up, gadgets, pen, wallet, umbrella, emergency kit and files, I would be needing a just a right-size bag which could just fit all these. Yet, the bag must also look professional and should be sturdy enough to last.

Good thing I discovered Goods.ph , an online store in the Philippines that have lots of good finds!
They gave me a chance to purchase a bag that could fit my needs. Look what I got!

The Tassel PU High Quality Leather Material Hand bag in black is easy to carry and made of high quality leather. The design is simple with chain and tassel designs, professional-looking and elegant.
The bag is also available in red, white and natural beige. So you could choose what matches your style best.

According to the website, the bag has 34cm height (approx 13 inches) and 36cm length (approx 14 inches). This bag could fit well my documents and folders I've been preparing before I start my internship.

I've been using it for a week now, and as you've observed in the past few days it has been raining really hard in the metro but this bag did a good gob in keeping my stuff dry and cooperate when I'm just throwing things inside or getting my umbrella.

The catch? It's is available at a discounted price of P250 in Goods.ph ! It could be your next online fashion shop for cheap quality finds !

Let me give you a closer look!

It has a smooth textured body design. If you look at its other colors on the website, you'll see the design clearly.

What I also like about this is the approximately two-inch deep allowance from the edge to the zipper.
Whenever my umbrella got wet, I hesitate to put it immediately in the bag because it might get my stuff wet or make the inside of the bag smell awful. With this design, I could just zip the bag and put my moist umbrella on the top of the zipper, without worrying of it falling off since it is deep enough to hold it!

A long, wide-mouth zipper lets you put various things and makes the bag flexible to any shapes and sizes it can contain. The inside is lined with gray cloth, with a little zippered pocket where I put my important things.

For your online shopping needs, check out Goods.ph ! Aside from really good items ranging from fashion, tech, home appliances, beauty products and more, they have various forms of payment (cash on delivery, bank deposit, credit card, gcash) and delivers within 3-7 business days for Metro Manila and 7-14 business days outside Metro Manila.

My internship needs don't have to cost much for a quality product! Just like me, you can get more of what you paid for by trying online shopping, especially this rainy day season!

 Happy online shopping Philippines!

The Urban Cafe: Serving CROCODELICIOUS dishes!

Just like you, I had questions in my head before even agreeing to this.
Is crocodile meat legal to eat?
What does it taste like?
Will it have any allergic reaction to me?
Is the meat imported? (Thus) Will it be pricey?

Curiosity struck. And being an HRIM student, it would be a unique experience for me that I can share with my fellow students. I had mix feeling of excitement and wonder. Hmm..

These crocodile dishes are being served in a unpretentiously named, quaint cafe called The Urban Cafe located in Wilcon City Center, Project 8, Visayas Avenue.
Any passersby in the area could be lured inside and yes, apparently they have customers who go back for their crocodile meat!

Well who would be anxious to go in this place with their spacious, clean and modern interior?

The white brick wall design is accentuated with fake grass and wooden furniture to have that indoor garden feel.

You can see that they serve coffee, wine, and cakes. But they're not the main reason of our visit. We were there to try out crocodile meat dishes and figure out why customers aren't intimidated with them.

Before we even go deep in this post, let me tell you that them cooking crocodile meat is LEGAL. They were instructed by the government to distribute crocodile meat because of oversupply. Since they only get crocodile's hide to make leather, the meat is wasted, when in fact it is good for consumption. In some places like Palawan and Davao, croc meat is served too!

They have a local farm somewhere in Luzon where they get the meat of not more than 5 year-old Philippine crocodiles. They are certified by the government and passed food safety standards so we're assured of its proper handling.

Crocodile meat is white meat, like that of a chicken, with less oil and fat yet it has Omega-3 fatty acids that's good for the health! Let's just say that it's like chicken with the health benefits of fish!

A healthy, unusual meat comes with a price. Surprisingly, the prices won't hurt your pockets!
Here's their menu board.

Yet it is true that less oily and fatty food won't make so much of a comfort food (still can't let go of that fatty lechon kawali eh?), these crocodile meat dishes will prove to you that it could be any of your typical chicken, pork and beef dishes!

Yes! Eating CROCODELICIOUS dishes (from breakfast to dinner) without guilt can happen!
Let me walk you through!

Sousvide Croc Tocino-P195

First under their All-day breakfast menu, I could mix it my brother's tocino breakfast and he wouldn't know it's croc meat. It tastes like your regular pork tocino!

Farm-bred Croc Tapa- P195
In this dish you could see more clearly the chicken-like strands of croc meat. You could easily compare the taste of the beef tapa with this one because this is white meat. Plus it's easier to chew!

Croc Hungarian Sausage Silog- P180

This kid-friendly meal uses 100% croc meat!

Dauntless Sisig-P195
This will actually pair good with your drinking buddies who are health conscious! It has all the essence of sisig: bits of meat, few fat, spiciness, minus the very oily finish.
Sousvide Croc Crossbone Steak- P195
Ugh. This is probably my fave. The cut and the taste is like lamb meat, and it has white fat like that of bangus! This dish is flavored with pepper and thyme. Must-try!

American Croc Rib BBQ-P195
Another fave! I'm fond of flavorful foods, and if you're not a fan of pepper steak, then this Croc Rib BBQ will be your savory fix!

If you don't want rice meal, you can snack on The Urban Croc Burger priced at P170. The patty is made of 100% croc meat, and the meal is served with potato wedges!

The Croc Cigar (P180) is an appetizer like that of dynamite but with croc meat strips inside!

The dishes are so good and tasted like how they were prepared!
We can't help but ask, "are they really croc meat?"
That's how flexible the meat is in terms of different cooking techniques and flavors!
Apparently, it's buwaya for a reason. It could get through almost any red meat-dominated dishes.

Meantime, let's have a break with our reptile friend! After all, what is a cafe without coffee and cakes!

(L-R) Caramel Hazelnut Frappe, Java Chip Frappe and Mocha Frappe

Carrot Cake

I love the plate and how dense this cake is!

Apart from serving these dishes, you could also buy frozen, processed crocodile meat like Croc sausage, Croc burger, Croc tapa etc. in The Urban Cafe so you could cook them at home.

Once you've tried croc meat in The Urban Cafe, I'm sure you'll come back. Patrons buy even the crocodile's egg which is approximately 3x the size of a jumbo chicken egg. The meat and egg are believed to treat health problems too!

P.S. I'm quite allergic to seafood, but one week from when I tasted crocodile meat, I haven't had any allergic reactions! Good for me!
